Maras Moray Tour

We’ll start by taking a tour to the Colonial town of Maras and its church. From Maras we continue walking to the Inca site of Moray, a magnificent series of terrace circles set into the ground that were once used by the Incas for experimentation with crops. At the end we will make a visit to the Maras salt mines which have been in use since Pre-Inca times. Water from a subterranean stream is channelled through pools where it evaporates and leaves behind pure salt crystals. With thousands of stark white pools stretching down the valley, the views are stunning.
Our tour begins with the gathering from the hotel in our private tansportation, to Maras, happening through very typical populations and beautiful landscapes that we will be able to enjoy in our route, arrival and visits the following places:

Las Salineras de Maras is another of those places not to be missed on your tour of the Sacred Valley. The more than 3000 salt pools that are dug in the Qaqawiñay mountain at an altitude of 3,380 m. will surprise you. These salt shakers are one of the 4 places in the world where you can find natural pink salt and depending on the time of day you see the place, the white terraces of the salt shakers take on beautiful shades that will be a delight to your eyes. And if you wish, you can buy bags of gourmet salt at the local souvenir shop.
MORAY.- One is to about 7 km to the southwest of Maras; it is unique archaeological group in its sort in the region. It is about an enormous terraces that are superposed concentrically in a gigantic hole, these beautiful terraces that served at the Inca time like an agricultural laboratory “Prototype as Conservatory” in which old quechuas experienced and obtained improvements.
If there is anything that can surprise you in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, it is definitely the Archaeological Complex of Moray, there is nothing like it anywhere else. It is a set of large structures located on a large plateau and are a succession of concentric platforms that are introduced into the interior of the same up to a depth of 30 meters.
These incredible bowls were used as experimental agricultural stations by the Incas, and as you enter the terraces, the temperature varies at each level, which manages to emulate several microclimates. This allowed them to experience different crops, from different areas, in the same place, which was a great scientific advance achieved by the Incas.
These colossal structures will leave you in doubt as to whether they were actually made by the Incas or by some other kind of beings.
Place where incredible advances in agriculture were obtained.
