The Inka Trail to Machupicchu is rated among the ten best trekking trails in the world because of its striking beauty, ancient Inca ruins and diverse ecological zones. This route traverses very diverse terrains, from high desert plateau to tropical Andean rainforest. 

Following this ancient trail, you will be walking past mysterious archaeological sites half-cloaked in jungle overgrowth that makes it look like you are discovering them for the first time. Finally, we arrive at the "Lost City" of the Incas, Machupicchu, one of the world´s most beautiful and important archaeological sites.

 Packages Inca Trail Trip Itinerary

• DAY 1: CUSCO 
  Upon arrival to Cusco, a transfer from the airport to your hotel, to rest and acclimatize to the 11,000 feet altitude. In the afternoon, you will do a tour of the city and the nearby ruins, including the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the Qenqo shrine and the Inca baths of Tambomachay. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Cusco.

• DAY 2 : SACRED VALLEY
  Transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas for a morning visit of the Inca town of Ollantaytambo. We will then drive to the head of the trail at km 82. where we start our trek. Following the Urubamba River, you make the first camp near Llactapata. (B+L+D)

• DAY 3 : INKA TRAIL TO MACHUPICCHU
  You start the trek escorted by native "Quechua" porters. Going through semi-arid terrain, with  magnificent views of the Veronica glacier (20,000´).
  After a healthy breakfast, you walk past the Inca hamlet of Huayabamba and then through a cloud-immersed Andean forest to our camp at Llulluchapampa (11,000´). (B+L+D)

• DAY 4 : INKA TRAIL TO MACHUPICCHU
  Today, the first part of the trail takes us to the Warmiwanuska Pass at 13,500'. Continuing on a remarkably well preserved Inca trail; you will be passing ancient archaeological sites covered by dense jungle overgrowth. Camp is at Phuyupatamarca (¨City Above the Clouds¨), with a spectacular view of snow-capped Andean peaks. (B+L+D)

• DAY 5 : MACHUPICCHU
  Passing through the Inti Punku (¨Gates of the Sun¨), you arrive at Machupicchu, the ¨Lost City of the Incas¨, discovered in 1911 by explorer Hiram Bigham. Overnight at the town of Aguas Calientes, with time to relax at nearby Hot Springs. (B+L)

• DAY 6 : MACHUPICCHU
   All day visit to the Sacred City, escorted by an experienced guides. Late afternoon train back to Cusco. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Cusco. (B)

• DAY 7 : CUSCO
   Free day for shopping and sightseeing, or choose your own tour.
  Overnight at same hotel in Cusco. (B)

• DAY 8 : CUSCO/LIMA/USA
  Transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and then home. (B)

***NOTE:  With our PREMIUM system you trek at a leisure pace, camping at more secluded camps , away from the crowds, we run an ecological minded trip by taking out all the garbage including all the human waste.
You will not carry anything , except a small day pack , with your bottle water and camera.
Also , it is our policy the fair treatment of our staff and porters, providing them with good food , shelter and decent salary.

The difference between our service and that of other companies , is that the first day we camp near  Llactapata a more secluded camp, other Agencies camp at Huayabamba, a small town on the trail , full of people. On the second day those agencies trek up hill all day and in the late afternoon with the last bit of energy, they go over Warmiwanusta pass 4,200 meters ( Dead women pass) , then go down to camp at Pacasmayo, again a crowded camp. With ourselves on the other hand on the second day we trek toward Huayabamba and hike up hill, camping closed to the high pass at a more secluded place , giving you more time to acclimatize . On the third day , fresh after a good night sleep, we hike up for one hour to the high pass and continue the trek all the way to Phuyupatamarca (City Above the Clouds) , the best camp on the whole trail.
On the early morning you will enjoy a magnificent Sun Rise , since you are on top of the mountain with the  clouds below you. On the other hand most companies camp at Winay Wayna, much lower and most of the  time that early in the morning is foggy , since you are already in the cloud forest.
