Reserva Amazonica is located in Peru southern Amazon region close to Brazil and Bolivia, in Tambopata, the capital of mega Biodiversity, on the left bank of the Madre de Dios River, a 45 minute (15 Km or 9.32 miles) trip by motorized canoe from the town of Puerto Maldonado.
Reserva Amazonica has 38 private cabins and six Amazonica suits built from local materials in native Machuguenga and Ese-Eja style. Standard cabins have a terrace with two hammocks, a large bedroom with single and double beds, mosquito nets and private bathrooms with cold filtered water. The suites have 50 % more room,a luxurious bedroom with two double beds and mosquito nets, a large bathroom, a walk-in closet, bay windows and spacious terrace.
Only four hours by river from Puerto Maldonado airport, Heath River Wildlife Center is the gateway to the largest uninhabited and unhunted rainforest in the Amazon. An immensely photogenic macaw clay lick, capybaras, oxbow lakes with Giant Otters, hundreds of birds, mammal species and the option to visit an indian community. The Heath is the best combination of nature and culture in the entire Amazon.
Service areas are located in a two story wooden pavilion with a cathedral ceiling,screens and mosquito nets. The Pavillon houses the dining room, four balconies with reading areas, bar and modern kitchen. Meals are carefully prepare using fresh local foods. Colds drinks are available throughout the day.
Rainforest lodges - Peru Jungle 3D/2N
Day 1: Upon arrival to the Puerto Maldonado airport our representative will be waiting to provide you with a transfer to the main square and a city tour. A short walk to the main port at the Madre de Dios River ,where a Doug out motor canoe boat will be waiting for you. After a 45 minute ride we will arrive to the Reserva Amazonica.
Upon arrival you will be given your bungalow and later you will have lunch In the afternoon a bilingual guide will take you for a walk on the trails near the lodge and a visit to the botanical garden.where there are 200 medicinal jungle plants. Later in the evening a typical dinner will be served.
Day 2:You will be awaken by the melody of the jungle sounds After breakfast you will walk for about and hour and a half through the jungle arriving to Lake Sandoval, where you will take a boat ride around the lake with closed views of the local flora and fauna.
Return by foot to the Madre de Dios river, visiting the Fitscarraldo steam boat stranded in the middle of the jungle . Return to the lodge for lunch.
During the afternoon a visit to a native chacra and visit to the Monkey Island , return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Another beautiful morning with the sounds of the jungle.. Tropical breakfast and return to the airport for a flight back to Cusco or Lima.
Note: There is a 10 soles charge from INRENA for visiting the Sandoval Lake.
