EXTREME WHITEWATER RAFTING , APURIMAC RIVER 9D/8N
This section of the Apurimac River,with excellent whitewater runs through the last high Andean ranges that break down to the jungle. Going though different ecological niches , carving its way through different rock formations , all the way to though the cloud forest to the Amazon plain.
We start our Rafting trip , near the ruins of Choquequirao,
(Golden Cradel) , were the last Inca Emperor, Manco Inca I, organized its resistance against the Spanish Conquistadores. We put -Inn, at Puente Rosalina, the bridge that takes you across the Apurimac River to visit the Citadel , there is a nice "Albergue" being build due to the increased numbers of people that are visiting this area. We already started naming several of the rapids and on day one you have a class IV called SAMANI, because we saw this raccoun type of animal, Then the "El Canal" a clean class V. After about 3 hours in the water scouting and running the rapids we arrive to Puente San Ignacio
,there is another bridge that takes you across the Apurimac River and up to Choquequirau.
There are Rapids called "LLama Loca " class IV, "Flip Line" class IV, and "Giganton" a very long class IV+ rapid. The more we get to know this area we will find more names to the other Rapids.
The third day on the river , it starts opening up and there are more flat water stretches of water and then a big Rapid. So it is more of a drop pool. There area a couple of places that we have to line up the boats and two rivers plunge into the Apurimac at river left, the Rio Pachachaca, and the Rio Pampas adding more volume to the river.

The following day we float with a completely different scenery , the shore line is very dry , the river widens up , more flats with big rapids such as "El Pescador", "
Many sandy beaches to camp , we will float through what we called "The black Canyon" with jungle on top, really pretty.The following day more jungle and we arrive to the first little town where a dough out motor canoe with a big engine , will take us down river for about 3 hours to the town of Santa Rosa, the next day we drive for 7 hours going up from the jungle to the Colonial Andean town of Ayacucho, were we spend the night in a hotel. Next Day early morning flight to Lima.

DAY
1: CUSCO / CACHORA / PT. ROSALINA:
Early start from Cusco , we drive for 4 hours to the town of Cachora, he we get the Mules that will take all the equipment down to the River put-inn. Its a 6 hour walk down hill from

2: PT. ROSALINA / PT. SAN IGNACIO:
Today is mostly a training day doing class III and IV rapids and we float for about 3 hours to camp.

3: PT. SAN SAN IGNACIO / PLAYA PUMA:
Very intensive day with many many rapids, most of them are runnable , others we line up. Camp at sandy beach.

4: PLAYA PUMA / PLAYA LA CUEVA:
Today there are rapids class IV called "dos Claudias", "Si o
Si" class IV+ "

More class IV rapids and two rivers join the Apurimac on River left, the "Rio Pachachaca"
and later the "Rio Pampas", adding more volume of water, the scenery is like Arizona or new Mexico.

6: PAMPAPLAYA / CAÑON NEGRO:
Today the river has drop pool rapids and its is surrounded by high jungle .

7: CAÑON NEGRO / TO LECHE MAYO:
Around noon we should be reaching the first hamblet of "Leche Mayo", from here we take a motor, canoe for about 3 hours to the town of Santa Rosa, where we camp.

8. LECHE MAYO / AYACUCHO:
Early morning departure with our private transportation driving up the Andes to the Colonial town of Ayacucho, where we spend the night in a hotel for the first time in a few days.

9: AYACUCHO / LIMA
Early morning flight to Lima
PRE-TRIP , TREKKING TO
CHOQUEQUIRAo:
By doing this we can have a full 10day / 9 night trip. Now if people have more time , we can drive from Ayacucho to Nazca in about 7 hours spend the night at a hotel and next day fly over the Nazca Lines , visit the Ballestas island and drive to Lima, this will add one more day to the trip.
DAY 1: CUSCO / CACHORA /

Same as fro the river trip.

2: PT ROSALINA / CHOQUEQUIRAU:
After a strenuous 6 hour hike , we arrive to the ruins of Choquequirau, ( Golden Cradel ) where we spend the nigh and visit the place.
DAY
3: CHOQUEQUIRAU / PT. ROSALINA:
After an early sun rise at the ruins we have breakfast and walk down in about 4 hours to Puente Rosalina, where we have lunch and the guides will be waiting with all the rafting equipment ready.Today we can raft down for about 2 to 3 hours to our next river camp at San Ignacio.
