Description

Arequipa is located between the volcanoes and the sea. Irrigated by the Chili River and springs that has healing properties: the Black Well, the Half Moon, Catari and the Eyes of Characato. The snow-capped peaks of the Misti,Chachani and Pichupichu volcanoes rise in the middle of the delightful and brilliant scenery.
Arequipa is known as the White City. It was built of the white, porous volcanic rock that covers the tops of the volcanoes.
It is deeply imprinted with its Colonial past which has left some of the best monuments. Altitude: 2,335 meters/8,500 feet a.s.l.
Climate: Warm days and cool nights (75 deg/42 deg F, 23 deg/5 deg C), seasonal rain (January to March) The Monastery of Santa Catalina: It is the most important and amazing religious monument of Peru. Founded in September, 1579 it was closed to the world until 1970.
It has preserved the characteristics of XVI and XVII centuries perfectly and coverers and area of 20 426km2.
Narrow plazas, streets and gardens have Spanish names, reminiscent of ancient quarters in Sevilla or Granada ancient quarters appear one after another.
It has site museums where artwork has been collected including porcelain relics, sacred ornaments, sculptures and canvases from different schools.
The Colca Canyon is a geological formation apparently deeper than the great Colorado Canyon. Located 170Km. away from Arequipa. En route, you can see South American camiladae such as vicuñas llamas and alpacas, some pre-Inca ruins with cave paintings, beautiful Colonial churches and the Condor Nest, one of the largest areas.


Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: AREQUIPA:

Early morning transfer from the airport to the Hotel In Arequipa
We recommend a couple of hours rest to acclimatize to the 8,500.00feet altitude. Afternoon tour of the city and the Monastery of Santa Catalina, the companie, Lunch and dinner on your own. Night at a comfortable hotel.

DAY 2 : COLCA CANYON :

Early morning departure by private car taking the Cayma route where you can see Pampa Ca񡨵as, a great number of alpacas and other Andean fauna species. Continue to Chivay. En route, a visit to the villages of Pulpera and Callali. O/n in Chivay

DAY .3 : COLCA /AREQUIPA

Breakfast. Early departure to Cruz del Condor where the Canyon is 3200m deep and condors can be seen flying. En route, you can see some hanging tombs built during the pre-Inca period, built on the side of the steep mountain. Return to Arequipa via Alto Sumbay, Pampa Cañas and Piedra Picchu. Overnight in Arequipa

DAY 4 : AREQUIPA :

Transfer out Arequipa Hotel to Airport
